2. What are the requirements for using the service?
To use our rent payment service, you'll need:
- Your landlord or property management company’s bank account details
- A valid, signed Tenancy Agreement
- A credit card to make the payments
3. What types of rent payments are supported?
We support regular rent payments, repeated rental payments, and security deposits for both personal and commercial properties.
4. How do I set up a rent payment?
Step 1: Select Payment Type
- Choose "Rent" as the payment type.
- Add a new recipient with the following details:
- Landlord or Company Name
- Tenancy Expiry Date
- Bank Account Details
Step 2: Create a Payment
- Provide the following payment details:
- Payment amount, frequency, and arrival date(s)
- Card details
- Payment plan: Standard (3 business days before) or Next Business Day (1 business day before)
- Bank statement reference for your landlord
- Promo or referral code (if applicable)
Step 3: Verify Your Payment
- Upload your Tenancy Agreement, ensuring it is:
- Official and signed
- Not expired
- Shows matching Payor and Recipient names, Bank account details, and property address
Step 4: Finalise Payment
- Review all details to ensure accuracy.
- Create your payment and verify with an OTP for a card verification charge of £0.50 (auto-refunded).
- Full payment will be charged as per the Payment charged date.
5. What if my payor name differs from the Tenancy Agreement?
A different payor name is accepted if the payor is the parent, child, sibling, spouse, or partner of the tenant.
6. Can I set my rent payments on repeat?
Yes, you can save time by setting your rent payment on repeat.
7. How do I pay my rental deposit?
You can pay your rental deposit via a one-time payment using the same steps outlined above.
8. What if I have a GIRO arrangement in place?
If you have a GIRO arrangement, we can transfer the funds to your personal savings account linked to GIRO. Provide your bank account details and a recent bank statement showing your name, account number, and GIRO deduction. Set the CardUp due date 3-5 business days in advance to avoid any issues. You do not need to cancel the GIRO payment. You can still add the payee details on CardUp to ensure the GIRO deduction continues as usual.
9. What if the landlord did not include the bank account details in the contract?
If your landlord did not include their bank account details in the contract, you will need to provide proof that the recipient account number belongs to your landlord or recipient. This proof can be in the form of a WhatsApp record, email, or a bank statement from your landlord. This information is vital for us to process the payment, as we need to ensure the authenticity of the payment.
Quick Tips:
- Ensure all details are correct before finalising the payment.
- For payments created on the same business day as the account verification, there may be an additional 1 business day delay on the payment arrival date.
- Make sure your tenancy agreement and supporting documents are clear and accurate.
