1. How can I pay my recipient?
If you are submitting a monthly recurring payment, only Card payments are supported as auto-debiting is required.
2. Will I be charged a fee for this payment?
A CardUp fee is usually charged to process card payments. However, your collector may choose to absorb this fee depending on your payment arrangement.
The fee chargeable is dependent on the card you use
- Card type: Visa, Master, AMEX, UnionPay
- Country of issuance: Locally issued or International
Based on the above,
- Local cards are charged a fee of approx. 2.6%
- International cards are charged a fee of 3.3%
3. Why should I pay the CardUp fee?
If you are paying with a credit card, you stand to enjoy card benefits on your payment made.
4. Can I use a promo or referral code for this payment?
Unfortunately, promo or referral codes are not supported for guest payments.
5. How often will my card be charged?
Your card will be charged for the first and any overdue payments upon the first payment submission. For the next monthly payments, your card will be charged 3 business days before each payment’s due date.
- Example 1:
- 1st payment is not due or overdue
- 1st payment is charged when submitting the 1st payment
- Example 2:
- 1st and 2nd payment is overdue
- 1st and 2nd payment is charged when submitting the 1st payment
6. How can I set up recurring guest payments to my recipient?
Once you are directed to the payment page via the Request link*, you may do so in 4 steps:
Step 1: Fill out the payment details
- This includes your name, mobile no, and email address – This helps us recognise who is making the payment (required as per regulatory requirements).
- Ensure to verify your mobile no. as it will be used for you to access your guest account for more updates later.
Step 2: Enter your credit card details
Step 3: Review all details and payment schedule
Step 4: Submit the payment
- Once your first payment (including any overdue payments) is submitted, both you and your recipient will receive a payment confirmation email shortly. The Request link is now expired.
- Now, a guest account experience is enabled. With this guest account, you will be able to view and cancel payments, update your card, and more. (Continue reading below for more information on the guest account experience)
- Your recipient will receive your payment(s) at their designated bank account within 1 to 3 business days. The payment will be reflected on your recipient’s bank statement with the unique payment reference set by your recipient when the request was set up.
* Request link could be shared to you by your recipient, or easily accessible by you anytime via the Request for payment email sent to you by CardUp, on behalf of your recipient.
7. What can I do if my payment fails?
A payment could have failed due to:
- Insufficient funds on your card - Ensure to check your debit or credit card limit, or use another card.
- The card is declined - Contact your card issuer or bank for more details or use another card.

9. How can I access my guest account for my recurring payments? What can I do with this guest account?
Access your guest account in 3 steps:
- Access your guest account via the guest account link provided in the recurring payment/transaction emails sent to you from CardUp. You can also reach out to CardUp at hello@cardup.co if you need help accessing the link.
- Then enter your mobile no. and proceed with OTP verification. Ensure to use the same mobile no. you used and verified during the first payment setup.
- Once verification is completed, you will land on your guest account landing page.
With this guest account, you can perform the following:
- View payments and cancel payments
- Download PDF payment receipt(s) - Only available once payment is successfully charged
- Update card for upcoming recurring payments
- Update mobile no. and email address
10. How can I update my credit card for my recurring payments?
- Follow the steps mentioned in "How can I access my guest account for my monthly recurring payments?"
- Upon landing on your guest account landing page, look out for and select the option “Update card” found in the Payment breakdown container.
11. How can I update my mobile no. and email address for my recurring payments?
- Follow the steps mentioned in "How can I access my guest account for my monthly recurring payments?"
- Upon landing on your guest account landing page, look out for and select the option “Update contact details” found in the Request details container.
12. How can I cancel my upcoming recurring payment(s)?
- Follow the steps mentioned in "How can I access my guest account for my monthly recurring payments?"
- Upon landing on your guest account landing page, select the container/button “View charge schedule”.
- You will land on a page that displays all your payments and related payment details. Here, select “Cancel payment” for the payment you want to cancel.
- You will land on a page to confirm your payment cancellation submission. Here, you can select the cancellation options available (i.e. canceling a specific payment or all remaining payments.
- Once you select and submit, the cancellation is immediately processed. Selected payment(s) will be canceled. Both you and your recipient will also receive a payment cancellation confirmation email.
- The payment status “Payment cancelled” will be reflected immediately (on the charge schedule page) for the payment(s) that you have selected to cancel.
13. I am supposed to pay my recipient but got redirected to the CardUp platform. How is this platform related to my recipient?
Your recipient has partnered with CardUp to securely process all payments via credit card and PayNow. After completing your payment, CardUp will automatically notify the recipient and transfer the money to their designated bank account.
